Summary

Since its inception, Port One Logistics Park has proved to be a spectacularly successful warehouse and business hub development. Outline Planning Permission was granted in 2016 for a 14.6 Ha (36.5 acre) site which was increased in 2020 by a further 7.9 Ha (19.5 acres) to create a site with the potential for 900 administrative, skilled and unskilled jobs.

Working with the Babergh Mid Suffolk Economic Development Team, the Port One team has taken full advantage of both the Park’s strategic location on the A14 and the recently acquired Freeport East status of the Felixstowe Port area. Within the Park itself, rigorous management is applied to the day to day operations so that each individual tenant or business owner can be assured of a ‘good neighbour’ environment.

Barefoot & Gilles has been lead designer for Port One since 2016, providing strategic planning for the site overall, carrying out tenancy studies for individual operators and working with the consultant team to obtain the necessary planning permissions.

Our involvement has also included advice on consistency of design for ancillary areas, landscaping and signage to ensure that the brand image of the Park is reinforced.

To date, we have provided the technical design for each of the Units on the site for operators such as Lay and Wheeler, the FDS Corporation and Hemisphere Freight Services.

An example of one of these Units (Unit 4 occupied by the FDS Corporation) can be found here
