Cromer Road Ipswich Affordable Housing Architecture Portfolio

Making an Open Market Site Affordable

The introduction of PPG3 meant that higher density housing schemes were to be actively encouraged by local authority housing departments, and this scheme is typical of the type of site we developed at that time.

Formerly a Hughes Electrical Warehouse, this brownfield site now contains 22 houses and flats and a play area. Although the relatively high density of the scheme at the time resulted in some local opposition at planning, the finished project is successful and distinctive.
