A new 10-Bedroom house for the owners of the 128-acre estate replacing an existing nineteenth-century house which was no longer fit for purpose. The client is the Executive Chairman of an international software and automation company for whom business entertainment is a necessity
Following a series of unsuccessful designs by others, Barefoot and Gilles was appointed to deliver the building in time for a family celebration. Our brief was to design the house to accommodate a large influx of visitors during the racing season but also to function as a family home throughout the year.
The house is formally arranged and designed to provide a crisply-detailed example of twenty-first century classicism giving sumptuous accommodation for the owners and a series of self-contained suites for visitors.
Barefoot and Gilles arranged a consultant team capable of responding to an ambitious brief and a demanding programme. The project also required an experienced and pro-active contractor. During the course of the project, the consultant team and contract team worked well together to deliver the building on time and to a high specification.
