A building is ‘started’ rather than merely built and evolves over time as requirements change and the use of the spaces develops. We find that there is a great deal to be learnt from monitoring the day to day use of a building once it is in operation.

Immediately following the practical completion of a building there is a period when all the minor defects within the building emerge. This is an inevitable process which is a result of the assembly of thousands of components and the occupation of a building by people unfamiliar with their new surroundings.

  

 

We are diligent in our response to these items as they become apparent and ensure that they are rectified within the time stipulated in the build contract.

Having successfully started our building we try, wherever possible, to monitor its performance in everyday use so that we can apply this information to the design of future projects.
