Southwold Pier Pavilion

Revitalising a Landmark

The Pier at Southwold has a little gem of a pavilion at the landward end, built over the sea wall. Completed in 1936 the building shows the influence of both Art Deco and the International Style of architecture and is a well-loved landmark of the town.

Although the amusement arcade and beach café on the Ground Floor of the pavilion are very successful the Ballroom on the upper floor is, however, used very little and has a detrimental effect on the overall commercial viability of the Pier.
