New Life and Added Value
for a Redundant School

This Victorian School Building had been disused and on the market for a number of years with little interest; it was a tight urban site in a Conservation Area. Barefoot & Gilles saw its development potential and brought it to the attention of Shaftesbury Housing Association who were able to use our services to realise much needed urban affordable housing in the area.

The school building, which also needed Scheduled Ancient Monument Consent as well as Conservation Area Consent, was converted into 13 flats through the insertion of a new floor, and five of the new flats are fitted out to be homes to people with a range of disabilities. Four new houses and a play area complete the scheme.
