Combining Employment Use
and Affordable Housing

This former school building was a Borough Council Bus Depot for many years before it was put on the market with a covenant for Employment Use.

We came up with a proposal for a mix of affordable and live-work units and opened negotiations with the Borough Council. Satisfied that our proposals constituted Employment Use, the Council sold the site to our clients, Flagship Housing Group.

The development, built for Suffolk Heritage Housing Association, consists of 12 units, six of which are affordable housing. The front of the school was converted into two live-work units which sold well on the open market and helped fund the project.
